Cyanotypes (2019)

February 22, 2021

The cyanotypes was a really cool workshop that we did at university. I always wanted to turn photos into negatives. We took our photos that we used for our studio project stoke newington town hall and printed them on a specific plastic sheet called estate paper.

Afterwards we painted some specific chemicals Potassium ferricyanide and Ferric ammonium citrate (green) are mixed with water separately.

Then we took a blow-dryer and made them dry. The next step was to place them into a machine where we put the estate paper and the aquarell paper together so the negative gets printed on the aquarell paper and then we hung them in a specific closet for a couple of minutes.

Next we washed the aquarell paper in a box with water and at last we hung them in a room on a string with some clips. The result was beautiful. All the steps and results you can see in the pictures.
